MLB The Show 26 — guide
MLB The Show 26 franchise mode guide
A front-office routine for long-save franchise rebuilders: scout every series, set lineups by handedness, grade prospects on one scale, and keep payroll under control season after season.
1. Scout the opponent before the series
Start with the other club's lineup and pitching staff. For each hitter, note contact, power and discipline, and how they split against righties and lefties. For each pitcher, note velocity, control, break and the full arsenal. Ten minutes here tells you which bats to pitch around and which arms your lineup can hit.
2. Set your lineup by handedness
Check who is starting against you, then put the bats with the better split against that hand at the top. Keep a separate lineup for righties and lefties so you aren't rebuilding it every series.
3. Pitch to zones, not just to counts
Every hitter has hot and cold zones that change against righties and lefties. Find each bat's cold zones before the at-bat, and lean on them when you need a strikeout.
4. Read each at-bat as batter vs pitcher
In a big spot, compare the hitter's split against the pitcher's hand, the hitter's zones against the pitcher's arsenal, and decide whether to pitch to him, around him, or go to the bullpen.
5. Grade prospects on one scale
Use the scouting industry's 20-80 scale for every prospect so a shortstop at Double-A and a pitcher you just drafted can be compared side by side. Keep the draft board and affiliate rosters in one place.
6. Track payroll and luxury-tax room every season
Long saves are won or lost on contracts. Log every deal, know your luxury-tax room before you trade, and write down why you made each move so you can judge it three seasons later.
